on the Fruit Bats

When U Love Somebody

When U Love Somebody

I almost lied and said I was addicted to this song after 1:29 but dang it, the electric organ thingy had me after ten seconds.  I found a bunch of other gems in their catalog. The band has been around for awhile, they’re Portland-based. I dunno what it was but all of the sudden a few weeks ago I got curious about them. One of the longtime members has been in another favorite local band of mine and the main singer/frontman Eric Johnson was a band member with The Shins in the past, I’m not sure if he still is…..

I was a little bummed to find out after-the-fact that they played at Bumbershoot. Did you know, I have NEVER been to Bumbershoot? The closest I’ve come to Bumbershoot is scooping up a ton of loose change in the grass a week later while I waited for Adam to finish his ballet lessons.

  1. I like the Fruit Bats! I think I got one of their songs free with the iTunes Download of the Week thing at Starbucks. I can’t believe you’ve never been to Bumbershoot! Also, I think it’s awesome that Adam takes (took?) ballet lessons. Does he enjoy it?

  2. I’ve never heard of the Fruit Bats, but I like the song you shared – it’s catchy. You’re not alone, re: Bumbershoot – I’ve never been either. I blame it on the fact it’s held over a guaranteed three-day weekend. That means backpacking in my book. Curious if there is a story behind this picture. We were never able to hold our piglets in this fashion (and keep a smile on our face). They squeal bloody-murder – very, very loudly.
